The author Wolfgang Effenberger (Germany)

Wolfgang Effenberger was born in Lohne (Lower Saxony) in 1946, shortly after his parents were expelled from Silesia after the Second World War. He completed officer training in the German army, which he began at the age of 18, and studied to become a civil engineer.

As a pioneer officer from 1964 to 1976, Wolfgang Effenberger was able to gain an insight into US military strategic considerations in Europe. After subsequently studying political science, civil engineering and maths as a secondary school teacher, he taught at the University of Applied Sciences for Civil Engineering.

He has been a freelance journalist and author since 2000. Effenberger lives in Bavaria and occasionally in Austria.
In recent years, Wolfgang Effenberger has demonstrated an admirable research activity and creative power. He is one of Germany's leading authorities on international history, geopolitics, the history of war and peace policy, as well as on power and power structures.

Effenberger is often invited to speak at peace events and corresponding rallies or conferences.
Wolfgang Effenberger not only demonstrates his comprehensive and profound knowledge in his often monumental books, but also as an entertaining and stimulating dialogue partner and in speeches. However, the topics he deals with are bitterly serious and never light, let alone amusing.

The power, oppression, colonial and war policies of the United Kingdom and the British Empire as well as the USA and the powerful string-pullers in the background are the common thread running through his books. At no point does Effenberger indulge in conjecture or assumptions, but rather fully substantiates his descriptions with countless sources from his research.
